As expected, it seems WWE's decision to take King Corbin's crown from him may have been part of a bigger plan for the Baron. That doesn't mean it's a good plan, of course, and multiple outlets are now reporting that WWE has just filed a trademark for - and you may not believe this - "Happy Corbin."
WWE recently shared a video of a depressed Corbin lamenting his loss to Shinsuke Nakamura, while he's also claimed to have lost so much money on investments that he's no longer a wealthy man.
It seems WWE may be looking at 1990s WCW for inspiration and a storyline with Diamond Dallas Page that saw him lose everything and end up homeless before building himself back up. That could be a way for the company to finally give Corbin a babyface run, though it's hard to imagine him dubbing himself "Happy Corbin" being a good way to get over with fans.
A character change is definitely needed, though, and it will ultimately depend on the execution.
For obvious reasons, we don't have a lot of faith in this panning out, but Corbin is talented in the ring, and a babyface push might just be what's needed to help cement him in a main event position.
How do you feel about King Baron Corbin becoming Happy Corbin?
