The latest edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown for August 21, 2020 took place at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida.
Here is a recap of the most noteworthy highlights from this episode for those who might have missed it:
— Vince McMahon introduced us to the WWE Thunderdome, but was immediately interrupted by The Fiend, who was interrupted by Braun Strowman, who was attacked by RETRIBUTION until two waves of SmackDown superstars fought them off. The Miz came out way after the fighting was over.
— Big E defeated Sheamus by pinfall.
— SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match: Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Lucha House Party by pinfall to retain the titles. After the match, Kalisto and Lince Dorado got into an argument that Gran Metalik had to try to split up.
— Corey Graves interviewed The Golden Role Models in the ring about their matches against Asuka at SummerSlam this Sunday. Naomi came out to challenge both of them to matches (in a Beat the Clock Challenge that Graves suggested). Sasha Banks defeated Naomi by submission in 3:39. Naomi then beat Bayley with 1:44 left on the clock. As a result, Banks will go second at SummerSlam.
— Mandy Rose wanted to put her feud with Sonya Deville behind them. Sonya slapped Dana Brooke backstage for just trying to be nice about her attempted kidnapping from this past week. Sonya then upped the stakes and said their match will be No Disqualification and the loser will leave WWE as win or lose, she's sick and tired of seeing her face.
— Intercontinental Championship Match: Jeff Hardy defeated AJ Styles by pinfall to win the title.
— Braun Strowman attacked Bray Wyatt during a Firefly Fun House video. After Wyatt was being loaded into an ambulance, it mysteriously backed up and he emerged as The Fiend.
