The latest edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown for December 27, 2019 took place at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, MI.

Here is a recap of the most noteworthy highlights from this episode for those who might have missed it:

— Elias started the show with a song to preview the night.

— Braun Strowman and The New Day defeated Sami Zayn, Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura by pinfall. Strowman danced with Big E and Kofi Kingston after the match.

— Backstage, Otis gave Mandy Rose a fruitcake as an apology for getting sweat all over her dress before. Later in the night, Dolph Ziggler was hitting on Mandy and stomped on the cake. Otis came across it backstage on the floor, smashed.

— Carmella defeated Mandy Rose by pinfall. Just like Rose wasn't there for Sonya Deville last week, Deville wasn't there for Mandy this week.

— Lacey Evans talked with Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross on A Moment of Bliss about Sasha Banks interacting with her kid. Banks and Bayley brought out Dana Brooke, who they attacked backstage. In a tag team match, Banks and Bayley beat Brooke and Evans by submission when Banks made Brooke tap out.

— After numerous stops and restarts, the Triple Threat No. 1 Contender's match went down with Daniel Bryan making The Miz tap out while Roman Reigns fought with King Corbin outside. Bryan will face Bray Wyatt at Royal Rumble 2020 for the Universal Championship.
