The latest edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown for May 29, 2020 took place at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.

Here is a recap of the most noteworthy highlights from this episode for those who might have missed it:

— SmackDown started with an angle of Elias being loaded into an ambulance as there was a hit and run. Braun Strowman saw someone in black jump out of the car and run off, so he called for help. The rental car was registered to Jeff Hardy and had alcohol in it. Eventually, they found Hardy confused, head pounding and limping as well as smelling of alcohol, so they arrested him for suspicion of this hit and run. As a result, the locker room discussed what to do with the Intercontinental Championship tournament. AJ Styles wanted a bye, but Daniel Bryan was up for fighting someone else. After Sheamus, King Corbin and others complained that they should get a shot, Adam Pearce set up a battle royal to determine who would fight Bryan later in the show.

— Sheamus won the battle royal to earn the chance to fight Daniel Bryan for a semifinal match.

— Cesaro had taken Shorty G out of the battle royal after he had already been eliminated, so Gable picked a fight with him backstage.

— Sonya Deville and Lacey Evans fought to a double count-out.

— The New Day were on A Moment of Bliss for a "tag team summit". Nikki Cross gave them some Scottish pancakes and they were interrupted by Bayley and Sasha Banks, who talked some trash about how they could win the Women's Tag Team Championship any time. Bayley then volunteered The Boss for a match against Bliss. Sasha Banks defeated Alexa Bliss by pinfall.

— Shorty G defeated Cesaro by pinfall.

— Otis and Mandy Rose had a vignette where Mandy had a Fast Times at Ridgemont High inspired dream about Otis before he woke her up with a splash from the pool and they made out.

— Matt Riddle is now on the SmackDown roster and endorsed by Kurt Angle.

— Daniel Bryan defeated Sheamus by pinfall to advance to the finals of the Intercontinental Championship Tournament against AJ Styles in two weeks. Jeff Hardy had led to Sheamus' loss as he distracted him, allowing Bryan to get the win. Hardy then went after Sheamus.
