For several WWE talents, Christmas came early.

Surprisingly, WWE announced the releases of Luke Harper (Jonathan Huber), Sin Cara (Jorge Arias), and “The Ascension” Konnor (Ryan Parmeter) and Viktor (Eric Thompson) from their contracts.

Earlier this year, Harper penned a lengthy statement on requesting his release from the promotion. At that time, various sources stated that the company would not grant Harper his release and in fact, WWE added several more months onto his contract due to the former Intercontinental Champion missing some time due to injury.

Sin Cara himself requested his release early in November, citing that he was stuck in a place where his talent wasn’t valued. While the company didn’t immediately grant his release, word going around backstage was that officials were considering letting go talents that they believed wouldn’t have any value to AEW.

There’s no word on whether that’s truly the case here; however, it’s good to see that the company isn’t forcing wrestlers who aren’t happy to stick around.

As for the Ascension, the duo hasn’t wrestled on television since April and while there was never any speculation on the tag team wanting to leave, Viktor made it clear that he’s very happy about his departure:
