On Saturday night, Goldberg will challenge Bobby Lashley for the WWE Championship. The WWE Hall of Famer doesn't wrestle a lot these days and confirmed last year that his current deal calls for him to compete twice a year and expires in 2022.
We last saw him step into the ring when he challenged then-WWE Champion Drew McIntyre at the Royal Rumble PPV, but the WCW Legend failed in his attempt to capture the title. It was a great way to get the Scottish Superstar over, and it would make sense for Goldberg to do the honours for Lashley as well (even if that makes him a less viable contender moving forward).
Talking on WWE's The Bump (see below), Goldberg confirmed that he's now done for 2021 and has just two matches left on his current deal. Needless to say, we're expecting him to lose on Saturday!
He also shared his thoughts on the PPV's other big title match and revealed whether he's rooting for John Cena or Roman Reigns. "I’m a great fan of both of ‘em for what they’ve done individually," he said. "For what Roman’s been able to do for the past couple of years is freaking unbelievable. I think it’s fantastic, I think Paul Heyman has a lot to do with that."
"I’d love a piece of Roman Reigns and I think maybe even more so would I love to get my hands around Cena’s throat but, it’s wishful thinking. We’ll see. Let me take care of Bobby Lashley first and then, hey, I only got one more match, or two more matches on my deal here so we’ll see what happens."
