Last month, a wild rumour started doing the rounds on social media suggesting Triple H and Stephanie McMahon had decided to get divorced. Despite the story having no credible source, it soon took on a life of its own and was later being reported as fact.
Well, as far as we're aware, WWE's power couple are still very much an item. In fact, that's been confirmed by WWE Hall of Famer (and one of The Game's closest friends) Kevin Nash after he recalled a recent text change with Triple H shortly after the "news" went viral.
"My phone blows up and I'm thinking, 'Oh god, who died?'" Nash explained, revealing he had heard nothing about the supposed divorce when he'd spoken to Triple H the previous week. "So, I text Paul [and] I said, 'You okay? Everything all right? I'm here if you need anything.'"
"He goes, 'What's happening in my life?" Nash continued. "I said, 'Social media says you're splitting with Stephanie.' He responds to me, 'F*** it, I wish somebody had told me that before I [got] dragged to this JV football game where my girls are cheerleading."
Nash went on to joke that it's become commonplace for him to find out what's happening in the personal lives of his friends on the internet but says he'd have likely lost his cool in Triple H's position.
"He finally gets a day off, it's family time, and some trolls gotta f*** with you on your off day."
Triple H and Stephanie got married in 2003 and have since had three daughters together: Aurora Rose (born 2006), Murphy Claire (born 2008), and Vaughn Evelyn (born 2010). They remain perfectly happy together as far as we know, but it's easy enough to see where these "rumours" hailed from.
Stephanie announced her resignation from WWE when her father returned to the company earlier this year, leaving Vince as its final McMahon (though even his time there is thought to be nearing an end thanks to multiple misconduct allegations). Triple H has remained part of WWE as head of creative and is expected to remain in that role despite tension in the McMahon family. The company, meanwhile, is now owned by Endeavour following a recent acquisition.
