WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle recently caught up with Sportskeeda where he shared his thoughts on old TNA rival AJ Styles. The Phenomenal One is now one of
RAW's top stars and while the match between the two rivals sadly didn't come to much, it was still great to see them lock up one final time.
Angle said he believes that WWE made a mistake not signing Styles a decade ago but he did, of course, eventually find his way to the company in 2016 when he first debuted in the
Royal Rumble match.
"Oh, I think WWE should have brought him in ten years ago. Unfortunately they didn’t but they got him. AJ’s still going strong. I’d say he’s every bit as good as he was ten years ago so I just hope his career continues on and he can give us a few more years. He’s been doing this for a while, for over 20 years. He was an amateur wrestler before. AJ is one of the best in the company, if not the best in the world, and he’s been that guy for eight years now – so he’s had a lot of success."
Unfortunately, Styles was recently injured but is expected back in the company before WrestleMania.
Angle makes a lot of good points here and WWE definitely did make a mistake by overlooking Styles for so long. His praise for the former WWE Champion is well-deserved, though, and now Angle is serving in a backstage role in the company, he'll be working with Styles in a different way moving forward.
