WWE Hall of Famer Sting is no longer under contract with the promotion.
Rumors started speculating following the news of Mattel dropping the legend from their toy line. According to the company, “Due to circumstances out of our control Sting needed to be removed from Legends Series 7. We’ll look to include this figure in a future wave if he becomes available to us again.”
Pro Wrestling Sheet first confirmed the news that the former WCW World Heavyweight Champion was no longer under contract with WWE; however, the report does state that it’s possible that the two sides could come an agreement sometime soon.
There has been talk about Sting possibly showing up to All Elite Wrestling at Double or Nothing, first with Cody Rhodes responding to the news with a GIF of him listening from afar and his comments on Lance Archer and Jake “The Snake” Roberts.
The 61-year-old was originally rumored to present the TNT Championship on May 23rd, but that rumor was squashed when the company confirmed that boxing legend Mike Tyson would present the new championship to the winner of finals match-up. PWInsider confirmed that there isn't any talks of the legend making any appearances at the pay-per-view. Anything is possible regarding Sting showing up to AEW, but for now, it doesn’t appear that the legend will be heading to the company anytime soon.
