There had been rumblings that we might see Trish Stratus at the Royal Rumble or during RAW's recent 30th-anniversary celebration, but the iconic former Women's Champion finally returned last week.
Lending Becky Lynch and Lita a helping hand, Trish's timely intervention ensured the duo could beat Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky for the Women's Tag Team Championships. Now, with so much uncertainty surrounding Ronda Rousey's availability for WrestleMania due to a nagging injury, it appears WWE has new plans for the titles.
They won't be defended!
During last night's RAW, Trish announced that she's coming out of retirement and demanded a match against Damage CTRL leader Bayley. The challenge was accepted, and WWE later confirmed that we're actually getting a 6-woman tag team match that will see Stratus team with Lynch and Lita to battle Bayley, Kai, and Sky.
The plan had been for Rousey and Shayna Baszler to challenge for the titles at the Show of Shows, so short of a major change in the coming weeks, we have to assume that bout has been scrapped.
It's a shame to see the titles sidelined yet again, but WWE may have plans to shake things up before WrestleMania.
Matches confirmed for the event now include Undisputed Universal Champion Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes, SmackDown Women's Champion Charlotte Flair vs. Rhea Ripley, RAW Women's Champion Bianca Belair vs. Asuka, Brock Lesnar vs. Omos, United States Champion Austin Theory vs. John Cena, and Seth Rollins vs. Logan Paul.
