WWE Intercontinental Champion Gunther has shared his hopes for a match with Brock Lesnar on a number of occasions, and his wish might finally come true later this year.

The company had planned to pit them against each other at WrestleMania, though the idea was later scrapped. As a result, Lesnar opened the Show of Show's second night by battling Omos while Gunther successfully retained his title in a hard-hitting Triple Threat match against Drew McIntyre and Sheamus.

A showdown between the two was teased during the Royal Rumble and, while doing press for WrestleMania, Gunther suggested that had satisfied his hopes for a match.

Well, according to one reliable insider, the idea of Lesnar vs. Gunther is once again being discussed internally in WWE, with the idea being that they would clash sometime over the summer.

One likely possibility is Money in the Bank this July in London, especially as that would mark The Beast's return to the country for the first time in years. Another strong contender, though, would be SummerSlam the following month in Detroit.

As of now, it's unclear who Gunther's next challenger will be. Lesnar, meanwhile, looks set to battle Cody Rhodes at Backlash in Puerto Rico.

Who do you think would emerge victorious from a clash between these two badass pro wrestlers?

@1stDalek - could be an epic match, although I think Gunther would need to drop the title first, you can't have Lesnar feuding for the Intercontinental title...

@DevilsDreams - That's a good point, could elevate/liberate Gunther to face Reigns later this year too. They still have a couple of months to have that happen, who do you think he should or could drop it to?

@1stDalek - I would like to see Sheamus win the title so he can get the grand slam, but honestly best way for Gunther to drop the title would probably be in a fatal four way, battle royal situation, so that someone can win the title by potentially pinning someone else in the match.
Leaves Gunther strong to move on upwards.
