WrestleMania is fast approaching, and if this past Saturday's Royal Rumble proved anything, it's that WWE has big plans for Shane McMahon at the Show of Shows. He even managed to last until the final four in the historic match, though that's reportedly a result of Shane booking himself to look strong heading into the PPV.
So, what will he be doing at WrestleMania? Well, according to Ringside News, one idea floated around late last year was for Shane to square off with new WWE Champion Bobby Lashley.
It seems plans have changed since then, though, and short of something drastic happening over the next few weeks, he clearly won't be competing inside the Elimination Chamber (which was the rumoured match for him in Saudi Arabia). Had Shane stepped inside that dominating structure, it was reportedly to set the stage for a match against Seth Rollins at WrestleMania.
Dave Meltzer confirmed that earlier today, and it sounds like there's a chance it would have been a title match at one point...yes, Shane was going to challenge for the WWE Championship at the biggest PPV of the year in 2022. What is clear, however, is that WWE doesn't appear to have any concrete plans heading into the Showcase of the Immortals. Well, aside from two.
Right now, Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar and Charlotte Flair vs. Ronda Rousey appear to be a lock, but beyond that, WWE might just be making up this year's WrestleMania on the road to the show.
