During this year's WWE Draft, one of the biggest changes saw Intercontinental Champion Gunther make the leap from SmackDown to RAW alongside the rest of Imperium.
Gunther will now defend the title against Mustafa Ali at Night of Champions, and WWE plans to continue pushing him as a top Superstar according to PWInsider. While Cody Rhodes is the Monday night show's top babyface, Gunther is listed as the top heel, a strong hint the Austrian pro wrestler is going to have an exciting summer.
Monday's episode of RAW saw Imperium agree to take on some work for Paul Heyman, and there are also rumblings about a possible feud with The Bloodline playing out down the line.
However, with the factions on two different shows, we wouldn't bank on that being the case for the foreseeable future.
Triple H is said to be high on Gunther, Ludwig Kaiser, and Giovanni Vinci, and one insider claims that another member could soon be added to the group in Ilja Dragunov. It doesn't sound like this is going to happen imminently, but the former NXT United Kingdom Champion would be a good fit for Imperium.
He's been part of the main NXT brand since last September and hails from Russia.
Despite some buzz about the possibility of Gunther losing the Intercontinental title at Night of Champions in order to open the door to bigger things for him in the rest of 2023, we find it hard to believe Ali will be the one who dethrones the Austrian.
Stay tuned for updates as we have them.
