WWE has found itself in something of a sticky situation because the mainstream media is taking aim at the wrestling juggernaut for planning to host the Crown Jewel PPV in Saudi Arabia next month following reports this week that Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi was killed at the direction of the country's Crown Prince. Now, WWE has issued a response to that and...well, it's vague!
"We are currently monitoring the situation," a WWE rep said in a statement sent out to media outlets. The company stands to make hundreds of millions of dollars over the next decade so it will be very interesting seeing if the company now backs out of that or does its best to find a way to keep things going. If the likes of AMC and WME pull out, though, don't be surprised if WWE later does the same.
What does this mean for Crown Jewel? That remains to be seen but the status of the PPV is very much in the air as of right now and we'll be sure to keep you updated as this situation develops.
