After WWE quietly announced that this year's Extreme Rules PPV would be called Extreme Rules: The Horror Show, there were rumblings online that people in WWE were unhappy with the name (especially given everything that's happening in the world right now).
Now, another change has been made, as Friday's SmackDown confirmed that it's now being referred to as "The Horror Show at Extreme Rules." It's quite the mouthful, and while there's no specific reasoning behind the change, it seems likely that Vince McMahon has randomly changed his mind as he's prone to do.
"The Horror Show" is a reference to the Wyatt Swamp Fight match which will see Universal Champion Braun Strowman take on Bray Wyatt. However, it's a theme which could find its way into other matches as Rey Mysterio vs. Seth Rollins is said to be an "Eye for an Eye" match.
Here's the current, confirmed card for the PPV:
Wyatt Swamp Fight
Braun Strowman vs. Bray Wyatt
WWE Championship
Drew McIntyre (Champion) vs. Dolph Ziggler
WWE Raw Women’s Championship
Asuka (Champion) vs. Sasha Banks
WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship
Bayley (Champion) vs. Nikki Cross
The Horror Show at Extreme Rules will air on Sunday, July 17th at 7 pm ET on the WWE Network.
