With fans unable to attend WWE shows, the company has been taking drastic measures to keep viewers at home interested. WrestleMania included a number of cinematic matches, as did Money in the Bank, while Backlash boasted "The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever." Now, Extreme Rules is heading down a similarly unique route.
While WWE hasn't issued an official announcement yet, their website has been updated to call the show Extreme Rules: The Horror Show. It's mentioned in a preview for the match between RAW Women's Champion Asuka vs. Sasha Banks too, where the company asks, "Will Banks become a double champion, or will Asuka continue to reign supreme on the red brand? Find out at WWE Extreme Rules: The Horror Show."
It's unclear what this change is referring to, but common sense says it has something to do with Braun Strowman defending the Universal Championship against Bray Wyatt. After the Monster Among Men defeated his Firefly Funhouse persona, it's now looking like Wyatt will return to his Wyatt Family days for this match. With that in mind, it's likely to be cinematic in nature!
The only other match announced for the show is WWE Champion Drew McIntyre against Dolph Ziggler (Randy Orton vs. The Big Show is also looking likely).
