It's no secret that WWE wants to pit Roman Reigns against The Rock at a future WrestleMania, but with Dwayne Johnson's busy Hollywood schedule, that's easier said than done. Should The Great One suffer an injury, it could prove disastrous for his career, all while costing a movie studio millions of dollars in delays and the like.
There had been talk of the match taking place this year, though it was later reported that Vince McMahon didn't want that because of the limited number of fans able to attend the Show of Shows.
With WrestleMania heading to Dallas, Texas and Los Angeles, California over the next two years, those are definitely likely destinations, but a big change may have been made to the bout. According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there have been internal discussions in WWE about making it a tag team match.
The idea would be to have Reigns and The Rock on opposite sides, each paired with Jimmy and Jey Uso. This would protect Johnson so his movie career isn't impacted in any way, while keeping the feud "all in the family" in order to decide who is really The Tribal Chief.
It's a cool idea, but with Jimmy once again heading to court for DUI, who knows if the match can happen the way WWE plans. Either way, it will be interesting seeing if Reigns vs. The Rock does happen in some form, but we're hoping everyone involved finds a way to make this dream match a reality.
