Roman Reigns holds both the WWE and Universal titles, but as the Road to WrestleMania nears, it sounds like the company has plans to make some big changes to the Head of the Table's reign. Check it out!

Roman Reigns has been Universal Champion for over two years, and since defeating Brock Lesnar at this year's WrestleMania, he's also held the WWE Championship.

While having both belts certainly emphasises the Head of the Table's dominance, it also leaves RAW and SmackDown without a world champion who appears on a regular basis. For better or worse, Reigns is now a part-timer and it feels like the right time to once again split the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship into two titles.

With the plan clearly to keep Reigns undefeated for the foreseeable future (and likely through next year's WrestleMania), that's easier said than done, but it appears to be something WWE is mulling over.

There had been discussions prior to Clash at the Castle about splitting the title so Drew McIntyre could win in his home country. Now, @WrestleVotes is reporting that while the company would like to go into WrestleMania season with two individual champions, they don't want Reigns to lose any matches before then.

As a result, Triple H is said to be "open to all things creatively here."

We'd argue that the best possible route here would be for Reigns to have to defend both titles on the same night, with one of those bouts being a Triple Threat match. One of the other competitors could be pinned, meaning he'd lose that one belt, but without actually being pinned or submitted himself. We'd bet on him keeping the Universal title as he's obviously held it the longest.

What would you like to see happen moving forward?

The more important question is, who do they give it to after this is all over?

You can’t build up an unstoppable power like this and waste his dethroning on someone undeserving. It’s probably gonna be Cody but still, it could’ve (should’ve) been Drew at CatC, and it’s always a possibly the Rock comes back and takes it.

@Himura - My money's on Cody for sure. When he returned they obviously put him on that path. It wouldn't surprise me if part of his contract was a title run. And at this point, nhe's the only guy that Roman hasn't beaten.

The plan was always to keep the belts on Roman until Mania, and hopefully they can get The Rock to appear and they would have a match. But even if that happens there's no way in hell Roman loses to him. Rock is a movie star now. Winning one or both of the titles would require him to stick around for a little bit, and I really don't think that would happen. Not to mention, having The Rock heat Roman is kind of counter productive to the whole Head of the Table story.

It would basically be saying, "Well, guess Roman really isn't the Head of the Table in that family". All to put The Rock over for what? So he can turn around and leave shortly after and possibly never do another match again? Yeah, if they do get the chance for Rock vs Roman, Roman is winning. 100%
