We're fully anticipating some major changes being made to the RAW and SmackDown rosters following this year's WWE Draft, but the company may have just let a major spoiler for that slip out.
In local advertising in Baltimore, it's revealed that Universal Champion Roman Reigns is set to square off with Drew McIntyre during the first night of the WWE Draft on the October 1 episode of SmackDown. It's possible this is just a dark match, of course, but McIntyre is being promoted for the show alongside a number of Superstars who are currently on the blue brand.
It's hard to believe WWE would do RAW vs. SmackDown matches this close to Survivor Series, though recent hotshot booking meant to counter AEW has seen Superstars from each brand cross over to the other (in fairness to WWE, half of its roster will be in the UK for live events next week, hence why RAW will feature Reigns and The Usos).
It would certainly make sense for McIntyre to move to Friday nights, especially as he's running out of things to do on Monday nights. There have also been rumblings for months that WWE is looking to have him and Reigns square off again in 2021.
Right now, Reigns has Finn Balor at Extreme Rules, Brock Lesnar in Saudi Arabia, and likely Big E at Survivor Series. McIntyre could easily be used to kill time until Reigns finds an opponent for next year's WrestleMania (rumoured to be Lesnar due to The Rock's busy Hollywood schedule).
