The latest edition of WWE Monday Night Raw for August 31, 2020 took place at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida.

Here is a recap of the most noteworthy highlights from this episode for those who might have missed it:

— Randy Orton started the show with a promo about how he shouldn't have to qualify for a match at Clash of Champions. Keith Lee interrupted to talk about how he beat him at Payback and that should probably put him ahead of Orton on the title shot list. Keith lee then defeated Dolph Ziggler by pinfall to earn a spot in the forthcoming triple threat match.

— Asuka was interviewed about not knowing who her next challenger is. Mickie James came out to say she's gunning for the title. Natalya and Lana then interrupted and started a fight with Asuka and James. Mickie James then defeated Lana by pinfall.

— Aleister Black attacked Kevin Owens before his scheduled match with Randy Orton. That left Owens barely able to move, so Randy Orton defeated Kevin Owens by pinfall rather easily.

— The Hurt Business hosted a VIP Lounge, which Cedric Alexander interrupted (along with The Viking Raiders) to set up a six-man tag team match. Alexander, Erik and Ivar defeated MVP, Shelton Benjamin and Bobby Lashley by pinfall. After the commercial break, The Hurt Business jumped Alexander backstage and were run off by Apollo Crews and Ricochet.

— The Riott Squad (Liv Morgan and Ruby Riott) defeated The IIconics (Peyton Royce and Billie Kay) by pinfall. As a result, The Riott Squad have earned a women's tag title opportunity and The IIconics have to split up as a team.

— Seth Rollins defeated Dominik Mysterio by pinfall and nailed Dominik with another stomp after the match just for emphasis.

— Raw Underground: Titus O'Neil beat two unnamed guys. Riddick Moss stepped up and took out Titus.

— Footage was shown that earlier today, R-Truth beat Akira Tozawa in the parking lot to become the new 24/7 champion.

— Tornado Tag Team Match: The Street Profits (Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins) vs Andrade and Angel Garza (with Zelina Vega) ended in a no-contest as RETRIBUTION attacked everyone while Garza ran off with Demi Burnett as soon as he saw the lights flickering.

— Raw Underground: Jessamyn Duke took out Avery Taylor. Marina Shafir then made someone tap out. Peyton Royce tossed Billie Kay into the ring, who was quickly knocked out with one kick from Duke. After a commercial break, Apollo Crews and Shelton Benjamin fought in Raw Underground, which devolved into all three members of The Hurt Business fighting with Crews, Ricochet and Cedric Alexander. The Hurt Business stood tall.

— RETRIBUTION continued their attack backstage. Angel Garza ran off without conerning himself with Demi Burnett's safety.

— Triple Threat No. 1 Contender's Match: Randy Orton defeated Seth Rollins and Keith Lee by pinfall to earn a WWE Championship title shot against Drew McIntyre at Clash of Champions
