Preview & Predictions for WWE NXT Battleground 2025:
On tap for today's event, Joe Hendry is making history by defending the TNA World Championship against Trick Williams. There's a good chance the title changes hands if WWE and TNA want to make a big splash, even though the safe bet is always for people to keep the titles in the company they're signed to. This is a tough call.
Also a tough call is whether or not Jordynne Grace wins the NXT Women's Championship from Stephanie Vaquer. It feels to me as though it might be time to put the belt on Grace, rather than to wait around even longer to get to that point, and since Vaquer's proven herself as champion, she can lose and it won't diminish her starpower. It can open her up to being drafted to the main roster if they want to put her on Raw or SmackDown soon, too.
Myles Borne isn't going to beat Oba Femi for the NXT Championship, though. He'll put up a fight and have a good showing, but he's not capturing the title.
I don't think Sol Ruca will lose their NXT Women's North American Championships either, for that matter. She's too new of a champion and Jordan doesn't exactly have a ton of momentum to sway the pendulum back to her for a second title reign, which is harder to justify than crowning a brand new champion most of the time.
Place your bets on The Culling to win the six-man tag team match. That way, Brooks Jensen and Niko Vance can get a future shot at The Belly Boys for the tag team titles down the line. Plus, they have the advantage with Izzi Dame ringside to interfere on their behalf.
Finally, I fully expect Luca Crusifino and Adriana Rizzo to turn heel and join up with Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo, who will beat Tony D'Angelo.
Here are your results for WWE NXT Battleground 2025:
- NXT Women’s North American Championship Match: Sol Ruca (c) defeated Kelani Jordan by pinfall.
- Non-WWE talent is shown in the house tonight. Ava was backstage talking to two AAA women's wrestlers (Dalys and Chik Tormenta). TNA wrestler Mike Santana was interviewed by Sarah Schreiber about how he's going to be coming for the TNA World Championship no matter who walks out with the title tonight between Joe Hendry and Trick Williams. No Quarter Catch Crew (minus Myles Borne) rolled up, with Dempsey annoyed at another TNA star stealing the spotlight. Tavion Heights was more respectful and shook hands with Santana. They'll have a match on Tuesday night.
- Six-Man Tag Team Match: Josh Briggs, Hank Walker and Tank Ledger defeated The Culling (Shawn Spears, Brooks Jensen & Niko Vance with Izzi Dame) by pinfall. Yoshiki Inamura showed up after the match to help the babyfaces and reunite with Briggs.
- Ethan Page was interviewed backstage about how Ricky Saints is just walking the path he's already paved for him and how insecure Saints is. Ava then informs Page that their title match will open the show on Tuesday and the winner will have to defend it at Worlds Collide.
- Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo defeated Tony D'Angelo by pinfall. Luca Crusifino showed up at the end of the match ringside, which distracted D'Angelo, who got low-blowed by Stacks as a result. After the bell, Crusifino strangely went for a hug, but D'Angelo didn't reciprocate.
- TBD – NXT Championship Match: Oba Femi (c) vs Myles Borne
- TBD – NXT Women’s Championship Match: Stephanie Vaquer (c) vs Jordynne Grace
- TBD – TNA World Championship Match: Joe Hendry (c) vs Trick Williams
