The latest edition of WWE NXT for September 8, 2020 took place from the NXT Arena at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida, Florida.
Here is a recap of the most noteworthy highlights from this episode for those who might have missed it:
— Finn Balor defeated Adam Cole by pinfall to win the vacated NXT Championship.
— Backstage, Robert Stone wielded a baseball bat and was planning to destroy Shotzi Blackheart's tank, but she caught him in the act before he could swing. She then fought with Aliyah, who accidentally interrupted Io Shirai's photo shoot, which brought the NXT Women's champion into the fight. Shirai and Blackheart joined forces to fight Aliyah and Robert Stone and took them out together. Then, Shotzi grabbed the women's title belt and Io snatched it back.
— Tegan Nox went over to Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae's place for dinner. Candice wants to convert Tegan to The Gargano Way while Tegan thinks Johnny's corrupted Candice. They ended up throwing food at each other and Tegan left.
— Timothy Thatcher has been studying tape of Damian Priest's weaknesses. Priest plans on taking him out next week in their title match.
— Velveteen Dream defeated a jobber by pinfall. Kushida then attacked Velveteen Dream after the match as revenge for Dream doing the same to him after their last match.
— It was announced that next week, the NXT Tag Team Championship will be on the line as current champions Tyler Breeze and Fandango (Breezango) will face former champions Marcel Barthel and Fabian Aichner (Imperium).
— Bronson Reed defeated Austin Theory by pinfall.
— Roderick Strong defeated Killian Dain by pinfall. Bobby Fish helped Strong win the match and the two double-teamed Dain afterward until Drake Maverick madet he save. Maverick offered his hand for a shake and Dain punched him in the face instead.
— Steel Cage Match: Rhea Ripley defeated Mercedes Martinez by pinfall
