WWE NXT Results (September 22, 2026): Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Begins, Catalina & Hail vs Jordan & Zaria

Tonight's episode of WWE NXT (September 22, 2026) emanated from WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida and aired on The CW Network.

Results, match winners, promo segment notes and other major developments from NXT are listed below.

Preview & Predictions for WWE NXT:

On tap for tonight's episode, the 2026 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic begins with teams representing NXT, Raw, SmackDown, EVOLVE and AAA; AAA Reina de Reinas Champion La Catalina teams with Thea Hail against NXT Women's Champion Kelani Jordan and NXT Women's North American Champion Zaria; and Zilla Fatu, Sean Legacy and Dorian Van Dux face BirthRight's Lexis King, Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo and Uriah Connors.

It sure would be nice to know which matches are taking place in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, as having a list of 14 teams with no bracket means "whatever" when it comes to the predictions. By the way, I'm curious how they said there were supposed to be representatives from Raw and I don't see any of those, unless they're counting Los Americanos, who have only appeared on AAA for months now.

Regarding La Catalina and Thea Hail against Kelani Jordan and Zaria, the most interesting scenario is always for the challengers to beat the champions to set them up for a future title opportunity, so I'll go with Hail and Catalina winning. My guess is Hail takes out Zaria.

For the six man tag, BirthRight loses more often than they win, so why would I think anything different is going to happen here? Oh, because Sean Legacy and Dorian Van Dux are in the match, which means they can take the pin and Zilla Fatu can be protected. But does BirthRight winning actually do anything? Doubtful. Zilla is the priority project going on here, so I'm going to default to him scoring the win for his team unless there's something else going on during the show that sets up something differently with the DRTTC.

• Tag Team Match: La Catalina and Thea Hail defeated NXT Women's Champion Kelani Jordan and NXT Women's North American Champion Zaria by pinfall. Hail countered Zaria's attempt at an F5 into a roll-up for the victory. Robert Stone later made Zaria vs Hail for the NXT Women's North American Championship official for next week.

• Cruz Montana addressed his recent setbacks and continued pursuit of the NXT Championship before being interrupted by DarkState. Montana and Dion Lennox traded increasingly personal remarks until Montana struck Lennox and the two brawled toward the backstage area.
• Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic First Round Match: The Creed Brothers (Julius Creed and Brutus Creed) defeated Harley Riggins and Jax Presley by pinfall to advance in the tournament. The Creeds isolated Presley late in the match and finished him with a double-team attack.
• Six-Man Tag Team Match: BirthRight (Lexis King, Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo and Uriah Connors) defeated Zilla Fatu, Sean Legacy and EK Prosper by pinfall. Arianna Grace distracted the referee during the closing sequence and Legacy ultimately took the fall. After the match, King confronted Fatu, but the rest of BirthRight pulled King out of the ring before Fatu could attack him.
• Zaria addressed her upcoming NXT Women's North American Championship defense against Thea Hail before footage of Zaria performing in a high school production was shown on a monitor behind her. Izzi Dame appeared and mocked Zaria over the footage.
• NXT Champion Grayson Waller and No. 1 contender Mason Rook closed the show with a face-to-face confrontation ahead of their championship match next week. Waller questioned Rook's commitment and said he would force him to quit, while Rook responded by taking shots at Waller's return to NXT and said Waller's ability on the microphone would not save him once they were in the ring. The two stared each other down as the show went off the air.
