Preview & Predictions for WWE NXT:
On tap for tonight's episode, NXT Champion Grayson Waller defends against Mason Rook and NXT Women's North American Champion Zaria puts her title on the line against Thea Hail. The first round of the 2026 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic continues as Fraxiom battles DarkState and BirthRight takes on Mini Vikingo and Chazz "Starboy" Hall. Myles Borne will also return to NXT following his latest attack on Tavion Heights.
I've hated this Myles Borne storyline, and how much they've dragged it out. Based on the track record, we're going to get another repeat of the same terrible "I had to get Tavion Heights before he got me" and "he was holding me back" generic, bland storytelling going on in this feud. It's doing nothing for me, and it won't matter at all to me if Heights jumps Borne or anything. I just want this to be over with.
I'd expect BirthRight to beat Mini Vikingo and Chazz Hall. Fraxiom beating DarkState is my pick, but that one I'm not as sold on being a guarantee.
Two things that are guarantees, though, are both Grayson Waller and Zaria retaining their titles over Mason Rook and Thea Hail. Rook's had no build, so it would be a dud if he won it, and Waller shouldn't drop it yet. Zaria is literally being set up to feud with Izzi Dame over this title next, so why would anyone believe Hail would get the title in the meantime when the previous time, she wasn't planned on winning? I think Hail is great (minus this arm dance they've got her doing now, for some reason), but I just don't think she stands a chance to win this belt right now.
Here are your results for WWE NXT - September 29, 2026:
- Robert Stone informed Grayson Waller before the show that Mason Rook was not medically cleared to compete and is expected to be out for the foreseeable future. Waller was told he would still defend the NXT Championship tonight, with Stone changing the match to an open challenge for anyone on the NXT roster.
- WWE opened the broadcast with a memorial graphic for Benjamin Satterley, known as Neville during his WWE career and PAC elsewhere in professional wrestling.
- Singles Match for the NXT Women's North American Championship: Zaria (c) defeated Thea Hail by pinfall with the F-5 to retain the title.
- Fraxiom confronted Noam Dar and Romeo Moreno backstage and predicted they would advance through DarkState and eventually beat Dar and Moreno in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. Vanity Project then joined the conversation and told AAA World Tag Team Champions Dr. Wagner Jr. and Galeno del Mal that they expected to meet them later in the tournament.
- Myles Borne addressed his attacks on Tavion Heights and said turning on his former partner was not part of a master plan. Borne said apologizing to Heights made him feel like a sucker and that losing his championships forced him to realize Ethan Page had been right when he said two people could not be at the top together. Borne claimed being part of a team had held him back and said attacking Heights allowed him to become the real version of himself. He also accused the fans of supporting him only because they felt sorry for him because he is deaf, said he was never an underdog, and told the audience to go to hell.
- Grayson Waller responded to the change in his championship match by mocking Mason Rook for being unable to compete and inviting anyone in the NXT locker room to step up for his open challenge.
- Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic First Round Match: Mini Vikingo & Chazz "Starboy" Hall defeated BirthRight (Uriah Connors & Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo) when Vikingo pinned Stacks following a Phoenix Senton. Zilla Fatu attacked BirthRight after the match and said he was finished playing games with the group. Fatu then announced that he intended to answer Grayson Waller's NXT Championship open challenge.
- Cruz Montana spoke about his upbringing, his parents and his own history with addiction. Montana said Dion Lennox could use his past against him if he wanted, but described that past as his superpower and warned Lennox that he had started something Montana intended to finish.
- Izzi Dame congratulated Zaria on her successful title defense. Zaria later discovered a pink dress and old photographs waiting for her in the locker room as part of Dame's continued attempts to bring up Zaria's past.
- NXT Women's Champion Kelani Jordan said she would not simply hand out championship opportunities and intended to wait until someone proved they deserved to challenge her. General Manager Robert Stone interrupted and announced a battle royal for next week featuring wrestlers from NXT, Raw, SmackDown, AAA, EVOLVE and TNA, with the winner challenging Jordan at Halloween Havoc. Reina Volcan then attacked Jordan and declared herself an entrant in the match.
- Robert Stone informed Saquon Shugars that he will face Tristan Angels in two weeks. Naraku reminded Shugars that he has Shiloh Hill next week, leading Shugars to warn Naraku that whatever he has planned, Hill will beat him.
- Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic First Round Match: Fraxiom (Nathan Frazer & Axiom) defeated DarkState (Cutler James & Osiris Griffin) to advance in the tournament.
- Singles Match for the NXT Championship: Grayson Waller (c) retained over EK Prosper.
