It's clear that there are big plans in place for Roman Reigns in WWE moving forward, with plans already laid out for the Head of the Table right up until next year's WrestleMania.
Now, Dave Meltzer has shed some light on those, revealing that the hope is Reigns will eventually become a huge babyface star in the company. They've tried that, of course, and it was a huge failure; the difference now is that fans are getting behind the Universal Champion as a heel, so if a turn is planned for the right time, he could finally be the Superstar WWE is desperate for.
"In time, Kenny Omega is doing this heel turn to come back and turn and be a big babyface, whenever that will be in a year or whatever with Kenny hurting, I don’t know when that will be," Meltzer explains. "Roman Reigns and Kenny Omega are essentially the same character in the sense that they are heels who are being groomed to be the top babyface star down the line."
"AEW is at least trying to book in a way to make the matches exciting and WWE is trying to book Roman Reigns and tell you ‘Eh, it doesn’t matter, he’s gonna kill the guy.'"
WrestlingNews.co adds that the main reason Reigns is dominating everyone he crosses paths with is because he needs to be kept strong ready for when he faces the likes of John Cena and (possibly) The Rock. The problem with that is WWE is making its babyface stars look weak, and by the time Reigns does turn...well, will anyone else even matter? There's also a noteworthy lack of other great heels in the company who will be able to be legitimate challengers to Reigns down the line.
It should be interesting seeing how this develops, so keep checking back here for the latest updates.
