Matt and Jeff Hardy returned to WWE at WrestleMania but after a brief run as RAW Tag Team Champions, the duo has seemingly taken the place of The Dudley Boyz as a nostalgia act of sorts.
However, just as things were heating up for both men, it's been confirmed that Jeff has suffered a shoulder injury which is expected to keep him on the shelf for months. "Jeff is dealing with a rotator cuff tear right now," said WWE Senior Ringside Physician Dr. Stephen Daquino. “It’s a full thickness tear of his supraspinatus tendon and a couple of other areas in the shoulder. He’s going to go for evaluation and probably for surgery next week."
"Once they get in there, they’ll figure out more about what they have to repair," Hardy says, adding that he also tore his labrum and that he initially thought he dislocated his shoulder. "But for sure, the rotator cuff has to be repaired, and then they’ll look at the labrum when they get in there." So, what does that mean for the future of the team?
With still no sign of the #BROKEN gimmick, Matt is obviously going to need to do something to stand out on RAW and that hopefully means WWE will pull the trigger on that soon if all those legal issues have been resolved. Jeff did, however, tease a new direction for his character when he returns saying "there's a lot of crazy ideas" so perhaps that's already in the works!
Either way, this injury obviously isn't good news for Jeff and he'll hopefully be able to return to active competition before the year is over. We'll have to wait and see how his surgery goes first, though!
