Finn Balor was a top star in NXT but his time on the main roster has been very hit and miss. After being injured immediately after winning the Universal Championship, he's mostly been relegated to the midcard and after losing the Intercontinental Championship to Shinsuke Nakamura, he's now set to face "The Fiend" at
SummerSlam.
That's a match he'll almost certainly lose and Tom Colohue of SportsKeeda.com has claimed that there's a good reason why Balor is being used the way he is by WWE.
"The feeling I get is that the Demon King is viewed as marketable but the ordinary Finn Balor isn't," he says. "That's why they keep trying to force nicknames and gimmicks on to him." It sounds like Balor could do with being reinvented and while the Demon may be viewed as a hot commodity, it reportedly won't be part of SummerSlam.
That's more than likely because WWE wants to protect the persona as Balor will almost certainly eat a loss to Wyatt at the PPV. However, it's hard to see what the point of that is when he's so underutilised...could he be better off elsewhere?
