The Judgment Day's Rhea Ripley may be a heel, but she's so incredibly popular among fans, it won't be too long before WWE is forced to turn her babyface.
In recent weeks, we've seen the Women's World Champion make short work of Natalya, though the two had a competitive match during last week's RAW which has been hailed by wrestling fans as one of the year's best pro wrestling bouts. Now, plans for Ripley at SummerSlam are beginning to take shape.
According to Dave Meltzer, the current plan is for the Eradicator to square off with Women's Tag Team Champion Raquel Rodriguez at the upcoming PLE. "They're not there yet [with the story]," he says, "but that match was pencilled in last week."
These two have a history in WWE and last squared off in January 2021 in a Last Woman Standing match in NXT. In recent weeks, we've seen Rodriguez come to Natalya's defence, while growing tensions between her and Ripley have been teased in various backstage segments as well.
This has the potential to be a great match, but the downside is that it further devalues the Women's Tag Team titles.
With Rodriguez challenging Ripley at SummerSlam, common sense says she and Liv Morgan won't be defending the belts during the show (unless they lose them before it takes place, of course).
Other matches rumoured for SummerSlam include Roman Reigns vs. Jey Uso, Cody Rhodes vs. Brock Lesnar, and Logan Paul vs. Ricochet. We expect at least a couple of those to be made official during tonight's episode of RAW.
