Dave Meltzer reports that there are people within WWE who are hoping to save Brock Lesnar's return for a big match that will see The Beast pitted against Universal Champion Roman Reigns.
While Lesnar's return has been rumoured for SummerSlam, it seems WWE may no longer be considering a WWE Championship match with Bobby Lashley. He's talked a lot about wanting to face Lesnar, and while there's no denying that a bout like this would be a huge draw, it seems the company feels that a clash with the Head of the Table would be even bigger.
According to Meltzer, as of right now, the Lesnar vs. Lashley match is not being planned for SummerSlam, so we might have to discount a return there (especially as it's thought John Cena is being brought back for the WrestleMania-level event to face off with Reigns).
It's also noted that Lesnar hasn't been contacted by WWE about SummerSlam as of right now, with many higher ups in the company not wanting The Beast back until Reigns is ready to feud with him. As Paul Heyman would be caught in the middle, that has all the makings of an epic match.
We haven't seen Lesnar in a WWE ring since he lost the WWE Championship to Drew McIntyre at last year's WrestleMania (which hailed from the WWE Performance Center).
