Nobody actually believed we'd ever see Otis successfully cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase to become new WWE or Universal Champion, but it doesn't look like he's even going to get the chance to try.
If you've been keeping up with SmackDown, you'll have seen The Miz and Josh Morrison attempt to get the case away from the Heavy Machinery member, and their next plot involved some kind of legal action. According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, this is all tied to WWE figuring out a way to take the contract off Otis and give it to someone else.
"The Miz had a lawyer draft a lawsuit for unsafe working conditions, which is the old Shawn Michaels gimmick. They’re suing Otis but they’ll drop the lawsuit if he gives up the briefcase. Either they’re going to sue or the deal here is 'We got no idea how to get the briefcase off Otis, so this is how we’re going to get it off him. And that’s what it is’".
This isn't particularly surprising as Vince seemed to lose interest in Otis a while ago (guess there's only so many time seeing a fat guy do the caterpillar is funny), and his storyline with Mandy Rose was nixed when she was moved to Raw.
This is obviously pointing to either The Miz or Morrison getting hold of the briefcase, but we have no idea why WWE thinks giving either of those buffoons a title opportunity makes any more sense than Otis.
Who do you guys think should ultimately claim the MITB contract?
