WWE Reportedly Working On A Backup Plan In The Event Of John Cena & Daniel Bryan Pulling Out Of CROWN JEWEL
Crown Jewel is still going ahead in Saudi Arabia, but it's looking increasingly likely that WWE will be making the trip without two of its biggest stars. However, it looks like a contingency plan is in place.
Though WWE has yet to confirm that statuses of Daniel Bryan and John Cena as Crown Jewel draws closer, it's believed that both Superstars are indeed refusing to travel to Saudi Arabia for the controversial event.
According to Brian Alvarez of The Wrestling Observer, there is a plan in place should the company be unsuccessful in convincing Cena to go, while Bryan's situation is still very much up in the air go.
"Word going around today at WWE headquarters is that there will be a storyline explanation on Monday Night Raw to explain why Cena will not be at Crown Jewel and we’ll know more about Bryan’s status by Tuesday on Smackdown Live. Presumably, this means another qualifying match to determine Cena’s replacement. There’s no word yet on how they will handle the situation with Daniel Bryan."
Replacing Cena in the World Cup Tournament wouldn't be too difficult to explain, but it'll be a lot harder to come up with a believable reason as to why Daniel is no longer the #1 contender for the WWE Championship.
At any rate, we'll just have to wait and see what happens. Keep an eye on TRR for updates over the weekend.
