On Sunday night, John Oliver tore into WWE for failing to provide its Superstars with adequate health insurance and it was clearly a rant inspired by the mainstream media attention his attacks on the company's partnership with Saudi Arabia. It was also well-timed with WrestleMania around the corner.

However, the company has now issued a statement in which the refute his claim and invite him to WrestleMania so he can see the reality of the situation:

John Oliver is clearly a clever and humorous entertainer, however the subject matter covered in his WWE segment is no laughing matter.

Prior to airing, WWE responded to his producers refuting every point in his one-sided presentation. John Oliver simply ignored the facts.

The health and wellness of our performers is the single most important aspect of our business, and we have a comprehensive, longstanding Talent Wellness program.

We invite John Oliver to attend WrestleMania this Sunday to learn more about our company.

Oliver's rant generated a great deal of attention online yesterday so WWE's response is not a surprise and it will be interesting seeing if he accepts. However, that would certainly be a pretty awkward meeting, don't you think? As always, stay tuned for updates and let us know your thoughts down below.
