Big changes are taking place in the professional wrestling landscape and the momentum continues to shift in WWE's favour. Following the successful debut of Penta on RAW, Dr. Chris Featherstone is reporting that AEW President Tony Khan and Ray Fenix are now close to "[ending] Fenix's tenure with the company."
It's said that the billionaire has been advised to "put an end to this" after continued negative publicity about Fenix being trapped in AEW (something Vince McMahon was frequently criticised for doing).
On that note, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter's Dave Meltzer reveals that former AEW stars Miro and Malakai Black are both expected to "be in WWE very soon." In fact, there are those in WWE creative who have been "talking" about plans for them both.
As for Ricky Starks widely hyped NXT debut, even before his sudden release from AEW, WWE had "plans for Starks to debut in NXT at a major event later this year."
One wrestler who isn't WWE-bound is Josh Alexander. The former TNA star is expected to sign with AEW because he wants to secure his future for his family and chose the highest-paying deal (which, in this instance was what Khan offered).
Meanwhile, former WWE Superstar Elias, now known as Elijah, is likely heading to TNA, according to Fightful.
Meltzer has also revealed that WWE Evolve has "taped about seven weeks worth of shows at the Performance Center" and "they don’t want any info out on the shows." PWInsider.com, meanwhile, adds that a WWE Evolve Championship has been introduced and will debut during the next round of tapings on February 21.
We're wrapping things up with a big WrestleMania update as WRKD Wrestling claims the plan is for Randy Orton to face Kevin Owens at the Show of Shows this April. It's a logical choice of match for both men, though not what most expected.
For a time, it appeared WWE was teasing Orton coming after Cody Rhodes' Undisputed WWE Championship. As for Owens, it looked like he and Sami Zayn might go one-on-one, though the match may have been moved up to this month's Elimination Chamber. Hopefully, Orton vs. Rhodes is played post-WrestleMania.
