We're kicking off our latest WWE rumour roundup with some big news about the heel alliance between Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and John Cena.
According to WrestleVotes Radio, WWE has considered using "The Rock and Soul Connection" for the new pairing, with the "Soul" part said to be more of a tribute to Johnson's father, Rocky Johnson, than a reference to Cena selling his soul to the Final Boss (we're guessing it's meant to be a bit of a double meaning).
For what it's worth, The Rock's head writer Brian Gewirtz has since responded to the rumour by saying, "Your sources are drunk."
The trusted insider has also spoken to a "well-placed source" who tells them that WWE is mulling over a post-WrestleMania event in Las Vegas that would be "'The Roast of WrestleMania,' featuring comedic megastar Tony Hinchcliffe."
In other news, Fightful says there are no updates on Asuka's WWE status since she was "pitched for creative heading into WrestleMania." Now, it sounds like the company is focusing on establishing creative plans for her after the Showcase of the Immortals.
Over to NXT for a moment and Wrestling Observer Live's Bryan Alvarez explains that Giulia likely lost the NXT Women's Championship to Stephanie Vaquer at NXT Roadblock due to a "minor" Visa issue. She's also dealing with an "undisclosed" injury of some sort.
Someone who is on the mend may be Bronson Reed. A new PW Insider report reveals that he's been spotted in Birmingham, Alabama, likely to get an update on his ankle injury. However, he's still not expected back until May.
You might have spotted reports about a backstage altercation between Jade Cargill and Shayna Baszler shortly before the former's injury. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Cargill got heat backstage for deflecting blame for in-ring issues and a general lack of respect.
This alleged incident saw Cargill show Baszler a bruise on her arm that the former MMA fighter supposedly caused. After telling her to "learn how to work," Baszler hit back by saying that, if she was trying to hurt her, Cargill would know it.
It sounds like they got in each other's faces before other talent and management intervened.
And, on a final happier note, Miro and CJ Perry are back together as a couple, claims TMZ.
