During last night's episode of RAW, The Miz hosted Miz TV and welcomed Intercontinental Champion Gunther to the ring. After Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci levelled a few insults at the former WWE Champion, Gunther hit the ring to take aim at the A-Lister.
He'd go on to say that The Miz is beneath him and mocked his career. The talk show host delivered some zingers of his own and then got fired up to make it clear he can be serious when it's called for and that he was the one who made people respect the title around Gunther's waist.
The heel continued to dismiss The Miz, prompting the pro wrestler and reality TV show star to fight back...literally! A brawl ensued, but it was ultimately Imperium who gained the upper hand.
DIY then hit the ring and defeated Kaiser and Vinci in their first match together on RAW. Later, The Miz demanded a shot at Gunter's title and it's since been confirmed that he'll be part of a Fatal Four-Way match to determine a new #1 contender next Monday.
He'll be squaring off with "Big" Bronson Reed, Ricochet, and The Viking Raiders' Ivar.
Today, it's being widely reported that WWE is considering a big change for The Miz. It sounds like a babyface turn is a very real possibility, with the Grand Slam Champion potentially teaming up with DIY to take on Imperium. That would make for an unexpected partnership but now does feel like a good time for The Miz to shake his character up a little.
Time will tell how all this pans out, but The Miz potentially dethroning Gunther...well, it would be an interesting decision on WWE's part. Whoever takes down the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion will likely receive a huge push, leaving Gunther to likely pursue one of the company's world titles. He's more than proven himself capable of being a main event-level talent in recent months, that's for sure.
