Earlier today, WWE announced that they will showcase EVOLVE Wrestling's 10
th Annivsersary show on the WWE Network on Saturday, July 13, at 8 ET/5 PT from 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pa.
The event is a celebration of the independent promotion and will feature match-ups such as Adam Cole defending the NXT Championship against Akira Tozawa, and WWE Cruiserweight Champion Drew Gulak will face NXT Superstar Matt Riddle. In addition, the event will feature EVOLVE Champion Austin Theory, EVOLVE Tag Team Champions Joe Gacy and Eddie Kingston, WWN Champion JD Drake and many more.
However, the event will air on the same night and time as AEW's Fight For The Fallen, and Kenny Omega made sure to call out the company for their decision to stream the event during the same time as a charity show (transcript courtesy of
wrestletalk.com):
“If lining your pockets with blood money is okay, then what’s wrong with trying to undermine a charity show for victims of gun violence? I hear that healthy competition is supposed to be a good thing and yet I can’t help but feel like I’m gonna be sick.”
Omega deleted the tweet shortly after, and put up this statement regarding what he said previously:
While this is just a rumor, NXT UK: Cardiff was reportedly booked on the same day as NJPW and AEW shows because the company wanted to take advantage of New Japan's ticket sales. WWE pulling a stunt like this wouldn't be much of a surprise.
As previously stated, though, this is pure speculation as Triple H waved off any notion that he purposely booked Cardiff on the same day as both shows for malicious reasons.
