Many look back on The Attitude Era as the greatest time to be a WWE fan, but the era that followed tends to get overlooked.

In the early noughties, the period of time which came to be known as "Ruthless Aggression" saw the debuts of John Cena, Randy Orton, Brock Lesnar and more, and successfully established the likes of Eddie Guerrero, Edge and Rey Mysterio as main event stars.

WWE.com recently shared some rare or unreleased photos from the era to coincide with the new Ruthless Aggression docu-series, and the site has now posted a batch of photos spotlighting some of the less-heralded "unsung heroes" who were also integral to the era's success. Some, such as Mickie James and Shelton Benjamin, have since returned to the company, while others have gone on to work for various other promotions.

You'll find a handful of the best below, but click here for the full slideshow.
