Preview & Predictions for WWE SmackDown:
On tap for today's episode, not too much has been announced ahead of time, as a good portion of the show will be dealing with the fallout from WrestleMania 41. We'll undoubtedly hear from Tiffany Stratton about retaining the WWE Women's Championship, there should be something with Carmelo Hayes after he won the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal last week, more from Rey Fenix after his impromptu WrestleMania debut, the continuation of Drew McIntyre vs. Damian Priest or them moving on to different stories, and our first look at the new United States champion Jacob Fatu.
What has been advertised in advance, though, is a TLC match for the WWE Tag Team Championship titles. Defending champions The Street Profits will be up against #DIY and The Motor City Machine Guns. These are the three teams this championship has been revolving around the most since the summer (with Pretty Deadly and Los Garza playing their parts, of course). Any team could theoretically walk away with the titles, and it's hard to predict since we don't know what plans are in place for the 2025 WWE Draft. For a personal prediction, I think it's more likely The Street Profits retain or MCMG win, rather than that Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa are able to win them right back.
Chelsea Green will likely retain the Women's United States Championship over Zelina Vega. WWE just haven't given Vega much momentum overall.
Another thing we know is going to happen will be the return of Aleister Black. Technically, he could return under his Malakai Black ring name from AEW, but it's highly unlikely, particularly after Miro returned as Rusev on Monday Night Raw. Black's opponent has yet to be revealed, but whoever he's up against, he'll likely win, as it would destroy his momentum to come up short on day one.
Here are your results for WWE SmackDown - April 25, 2025:
- Promo: John Cena was immediately interrupted by Randy Orton, who suggested Cena should have kids to fill the void in his life. Cena blasted the crowd, saying he's been raising children for 25 years, and once again threatens to take the title home with him when he retires. The challenge was put out there and settled on for a title match at Backlash, and after Cena beat down Orton, Orton got the upper-hand and laid him out with an RKO.
- Fraxiom (Axiom and Nathan Frazer) defeated Los Garza by pinfall.
- Promo: Tiffany Stratton cut a quick promo about retaining her WWE Women's Championship over Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania. She was then interrupted by Jade Cargill, who said it's time for her to win a championship. Stratton was down for a match right then and there.
- Jade Cargill defeated Tiffany Stratton by disqualification after Naomi attacked her. Nia Jax then also came out and attacked Stratton.
- Promo: Solo Sikoa tries to take credit for Jacob Fatu winning the United States Championship. LA Knight interrupted to say he wants his title rematch. Drew McIntyre then came out to challenge Fatu instead, setting up a No. 1 contender's match for later.
- Women's United States Championship Match: Zelina Vega defeated Chelsea Green (c) by pinfall to win the title!
- The Miz presented Carmelo Hayes with a gold chain with Andre the Giant's face on it to commemorate his win of the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal last week. After that, The Miz went to the ring to complain about how everyone got more opportunities for WrestleMania than he did. The lights went out and Aleister Black returned and took out The Miz with a Black Mass kick.
- Byron Saxton interviewed Bianca Belair, who has a broken finger. Elsewhere backstage, Nia Jax told Naomi that she doesn't care about her story with Jade Cargill and to stay out of her way and away from the title. Naomi told Jax to proceed with caution.
- United States Championship No. 1 Contender's Match: Drew McIntyre defeated LA Knight by disqualification after Damian Priest attacked McIntyre. This upset Knight, who had some words with Priest after the match until Jacob Fatu took both of them out to make a statement.
- Backstage, R-Truth told John Cena that if he needs him at any time to give him a call. Cena just walked away. Jimmy Uso then asked R-Truth "When did Cena become so wack?" R-Truth said "Dog, there's two sides to every story, Uce. That's a real world champion. Some day when I grow up, I'm gonna be just like him."
- TLC Match for the WWE Tag Team Championship: The Street Profits (c) defeated #DIY and The Motor City Machine Guns
