Tonight's episode of WWE SmackDown (Friday, August 7, 2026) emanates from Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and will air starting at 8 p.m. ET on the USA Network.

On tap for tonight's episode, Charlotte Flair battles Jade Cargill as Friday Night SmackDown deals with the fallout from SummerSlam.

Considering the way Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga got involved in the tag team title match last week, I'd expect some further developments in that feud. Are we getting a Triple Threat in the future, or will WWE just pivot to the MFTs against Wepa Up with The War Raiders pushed to the sidelines once again?

SummerSlam shook up the deck quite a bit, so they'll have a lot of recap material to go over. Hopefully, it won't be an entire episode of just video packages and repetitive promos, but they'll need to inform/remind audiences of Chelsea Green becoming the interim women's champion, Nick Aldis being reinstated as SmackDown General Manager and losing to Gunther, The Bella Twins turning on Paige (and Brie Bella getting injured as that duo is just snakebit), CM Punk retaining the Undisputed WWE Championship over Cody Rhodes due to a returning Randy Orton, Kevin Owens making his return to win the No. 1 contender's spot, Baron Corbin beating Trick Williams for the Men's United States Championship, and more.

That's a lot, so it wouldn't be shocking if this is a promo-heavy episode that has very little in-ring action, or the matches are mostly consisting of people arguing within the first 20 minutes just to set up some tag team matches for the main event which will inevitably end in more interferences, distractions, disqualifications and no-contest brawl type segments as well. Par for the course. It would be surprising if WWE went straight into crafting entirely new stories and moving on from SummerSlam with a full reset. This will be a cleanup edition that kills some time as they start to navigate what they want to do for the next special event.

Here are your results for WWE SmackDown - August 7, 2026:

• Cody Rhodes called out Randy Orton for costing him the Undisputed WWE Championship at SummerSlam and said he wanted to fight him immediately. CM Punk interrupted and denied having any knowledge of Orton's involvement, offering to help Rhodes find him backstage. Rhodes declined and said he would handle Orton himself. As Rhodes left, Punk reminded him that their own unfinished business remained and told him to "say when." Kevin Owens then confronted Punk, accusing him of looking past the new No. 1 contender and remaining the same arrogant person he had always been. Punk argued that his arrogance helped open doors for wrestlers like Owens, while Owens thanked Punk for showing him what not to become. Nick Aldis and officials separated the two before the confrontation could become physical.
• United States Champion Baron Corbin defeated Trick Williams by pinfall to retain the title after striking Williams with the championship belt while the referee did not see it. Later in a backstage interview segment, Corbin declared that Trick Williams would never regain the United States Championship and claimed nobody in the locker room could take the title from him. Carmelo Hayes then attacked Corbin and revealed that Nick Aldis had granted him a United States Championship match for next week.
• Kevin Owens told Nick Aldis that he wanted his Undisputed WWE Championship match against CM Punk on August 21 in Toronto. Sami Zayn confronted Owens over his SummerSlam return costing Zayn his opportunity, with Owens acknowledging that his return affected Zayn but arguing that Zayn would have done the same thing in his position. Zayn offered to help Owens against Punk, but Owens declined and said he wanted to win the championship on his own.
• Interim WWE Women's Champion Chelsea Green celebrated her SummerSlam victory and thanked Tiffany Stratton despite what happened between them in the ladder match. Fatal Influence interrupted, with Jacy Jayne blaming Stratton for costing her a place in the SummerSlam match. Stratton offered Jayne a Women's United States Championship match next week if Fatal Influence agreed to defend the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship against Stratton and Green immediately.
• WWE Women's Tag Team Champions Fatal Influence defeated Interim WWE Women's Champion Chelsea Green and Women's United States Champion Tiffany Stratton by pinfall to retain the titles after Jacy Jayne interfered and Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid hit Green with Fatal Flaw. Lash Legend and Nia Jax attacked Green and Stratton afterward, with Jax standing over Green while holding the Interim WWE Women's Championship. — Important to note, they're still not saying anything about Green's interim title being classified the lineal run, despite Rhea Ripley undergoing surgery, which you'd assume would imply she's going to be out of action long enough that they might as well have her vacate the title.
• Damian Priest was interviewed about the MFTs getting involved in the title-for-title match from last week. R-Truth and The War Raiders joined the scene, all fired up. R-Truth apparently set up a Triple Threat match for next week with just the WWE Tag Team Championship on the line, not the AAA World Tag Team Championship as well, which Priest was upset about.
• Randy Orton finally confronted Cody Rhodes and said Rhodes had asked for the best version of him before defeating him, but that loss caused something inside Orton to snap. Orton declared that the worst version of himself would become world champion again and vowed to make sure Rhodes never held the Undisputed WWE Championship again. Rhodes responded that without the championship, he no longer had to worry about being the good guy and questioned who would ultimately kill the "Legend Killer" as Randy is the only legend left around the roster.
• Sami Zayn complained to Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae about Kevin Owens receiving an opportunity against CM Punk, only for Punk to reveal that he had overheard him. Zayn called Punk a fraud and said he would break Punk's face if his hand was not injured. Punk responded that he would give Gargano or LeRae a championship opportunity before giving Zayn another one and told him to go to the back of the line.
• Nikki Bella blamed Paige for Brie Bella's shoulder injury and for costing The Bella Twins their WrestleMania match, promising to make whatever remained of Paige's career miserable.
• Shinsuke Nakamura warned The Tongans that he was starting a war against them and revealed that this time, he would not be fighting alone.
• Charlotte Flair defeated Jade Cargill by pinfall with an avalanche Natural Selection. Michin and B-Fab interfered after Flair locked Cargill in the Figure Eight, but Alexa Bliss returned with Lilly to even the odds. The lights then went out before Tatum Paxley made her SmackDown debut and took out Michin and B-Fab with a diving crossbody. Flair capitalized to defeat Cargill before celebrating with Bliss and Paxley to close the show.
