Tonight's episode of WWE SmackDown (Friday, September 11, 2026) emanates live from Arena CDMX in Mexico City, Mexico and will air starting at 8 p.m. ET on the USA Network.

Results, match winners, promo segment notes and other major developments from WWE's blue brand will be added below as Friday Night SmackDown airs.

Preview & Predictions for WWE SmackDown:

On tap for WWE's first live SmackDown from Mexico in 15 years, CM Punk defends the Undisputed WWE Championship against Sami Zayn; Chelsea Green puts the WWE Women's Championship on the line against Nia Jax; AAA World Cruiserweight Champion Rey Fenix defends against Ricky Saints; AAA World Tag Team Champions War Raiders face Damian Priest and R-Truth; and Paige battles Nikki Bella.

CM Punk losing the WWE title right now out of nowhere on SmackDown would shock me. I don't think there's much of a chance for Rey Fenix dropping the cruiserweight title for AAA, either.

It's interesting that WWE likes using AAA titles on SmackDown lately when they spent so much time ignoring their own roster on the blue brand when they had 3 hours. It's like the more time they have, the less they think they can do, which makes no sense. Nevertheless, The War Raiders could lose the AAA tag titles, but I don't think Priest and R-Truth are walking out with gold. I don't think they're walking out together at all. I think Priest is turning on R-Truth out of frustration after they lose.

Hopefully, Chelsea Green retains the women's title and beats Nia Jax, and when it comes to the Paige and Nikki Bella match, go ahead and flip a coin, because if they want to end the feud, they'll end it regardless, and if they want to keep it going, they'll just do that no matter what, too.

Here are your results for WWE SmackDown - September 11, 2026:

  • Randy Orton started the night by looking back at how Cody Rhodes hesitated when he had the chance to finish him at Sunday Night's Main Event. Orton said Cody is a good person, husband, father and friend, but lacks the ruthless streak necessary to put away someone like The Viper. Orton made it clear that he does not share that problem and intends to come after tonight's WWE Championship winner in pursuit of his 15th world title.
  • Nick Aldis warned Chelsea Green that she could lose her championship if she removed the protective mask during her defense against Nia Jax and suffered another injury. Green promised to keep it on. Tiffany Stratton then offered to watch Green's back at ringside and prevent Lash Legend from interfering.
  • WWE presented a September 11 memorial video before the first match.
  • AAA World Cruiserweight Championship Match: Rey Fenix (c) defeated Ricky Saints by pinfall to retain the title. Saints threatened the championship with several close calls, but Fenix eventually caught him with the Mexican Muscle Buster for the three-count. Fenix tried to shake Saints' hand afterward, only for a frustrated Saints to turn him down.
  • Sami Zayn argued backstage that challenging CM Punk was about correcting an injustice rather than simply regaining a championship. Zayn said he had previously hoped Kevin Owens, Johnny Gargano or any number of other challengers could take Punk down, but now believes he personally has to do it. Gargano then appeared alongside Candice LeRae and made Zayn confirm that Johnny will receive the first title opportunity if Sami wins the championship.
  • Nikki Bella defeated Paige by pinfall. Nikki stole the win by trapping Paige in a folding press and using the ropes for illegal leverage behind the referee's back.
  • Nia Jax dismissed Chelsea Green's championship reign as illegitimate and said Green never deserved the title in the first place. Jax promised that after previously breaking Green's face, she intended to end her career. Lash Legend backed her up and promised to deal with anyone who tried to interfere.
  • Trick Williams celebrated becoming a two-time United States Champion and attempted to bring out Lil Yachty to thank him for helping create the title opportunity at Sunday Night's Main Event. Instead, Baron Corbin appeared after already attacking Yachty and then ambushed Williams with the Trick Stick when Trick went to check on his friend.
  • Finn Balor asked Nick Aldis for another championship opportunity, but the SmackDown general manager suggested that Money in the Bank should be his immediate focus. Danhausen briefly interrupted the discussion before Gunther showed up and again mocked Balor for having peaked years ago. Balor finally had enough and punched Gunther after calling him a whiny little bitch.
  • Interim WWE Women's Championship Match: Chelsea Green (c) defeated Nia Jax by pinfall to retain the title. Lash Legend tried to influence the match from ringside until Tiffany Stratton intervened. Jax managed to knock Green's protective mask loose, but Chelsea recovered it and later used the hardened protection to headbutt Jax before finishing her with the Killswitch.
  • CM Punk explained that giving Sami Zayn another championship match was his way of teaching Zayn a lesson for his recent behavior. Punk mocked Sami's brief previous reign and promised that Mexico City would end with Zayn battered and Punk still holding the WWE Championship.
  • AAA World Tag Team Championship Match: War Raiders (Erik and Ivar) (c) defeated Damian Priest and R-Truth by pinfall to retain the titles. The champions caught Truth with Ragnarok to secure the victory. Priest initially appeared ready to console his longtime partner afterward, helping Truth up and embracing him. Instead, Priest placed Truth's sombrero back on his head, leveled him with a lariat and then hit South of Heaven despite Truth pleading with him to stop, officially bringing their partnership to an end.
  • Fatal Influence confronted Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss backstage before Tatum Paxley inserted herself into the conversation and reminded the tag team champions that she and Flair had already defeated them. After Fatal Influence left, Tatum apologized to Charlotte for the incident at Sunday Night's Main Event. Flair said she trusts Alexa, but still is not convinced what happened with Tatum was an accident. Charlotte walked away, and Bliss advised Paxley to give her some space.
  • Rey Fenix discussed Penta's upcoming World Heavyweight Championship match against Roman Reigns when Ricky Saints approached him backstage. Saints apologized for rejecting Fenix's show of respect earlier and admitted Fenix had beaten him fairly. They shook hands and separated, only for Saints to double back moments later and attack Fenix from behind.
  • Undisputed WWE Championship Match: Sami Zayn defeated CM Punk (c) by pinfall to become the new champion. Both men carried injuries into the match, with Punk repeatedly having trouble with his knee while Zayn's damaged wrist remained a target. Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae eventually appeared at ringside, and LeRae distracted the referee while Punk had Zayn trapped in the Anaconda Vise. Sami tapped out, but the official never saw it. Gargano later entered with the championship belt, only for Punk to avoid him and drop Gargano with the Go to Sleep.
  • The chaos continued when Kevin Owens arrived and attempted to strike Zayn with the championship. Sami moved out of the way, causing Owens to hit Punk instead. Zayn immediately responded by hitting Owens with a low blow and removing him from the equation before blasting Punk with the Helluva Kick. The referee counted three, giving Zayn his second Undisputed WWE Championship reign.
  • Sami Zayn left the ring holding the title and celebrated his championship victory on the entrance aisle as SmackDown came to an end.
