After Jacy Jayne dropped the TNA Knockouts World Championship to Ash by Elegance at WWE NXT Heatwave, that means Sol Ruca is now the only remaining double champion in the company, holding both the NXT Women's North American Championship and the WWE Women's Speed Championship.
The Speed title, though, has not been defended in quite some time. In fact, WWE stopped taping matches for it, and the last episode aired on X several weeks ago. Since then, it's been rumored that the show was flat out cancelled, and that the titles would disappear.
However, strangely, Ruca began sporting that title belt more often, instead. All while Speed was airing, Superstars like Andrade, Dragon Lee, and Candice LeRae purposely didn't have their belts with them, for whatever reason. Perhaps that was a condition that those titles would only appear on X, which actually hurts its promotion in the meantime, and now that that deal is over, WWE is free to do whatever with them as they please? That's just speculation, but it is strange the timing.
Nevertheless, NXT General Manager announced that WWE Speed is coming to NXT starting with a tournament on September 2nd, which will feature talent from Raw, SmackDown, NXT, TNA Wrestling, and AAA all competing for a chance to face Sol Ruca for the WWE Women's Speed Championship at the upcoming NXT No Mercy premium live event on September 27, 2025.
Before that takes place, though, there is this upcoming Tuesday's episode of NXT (for August 26th), which has three matches announced for it.
Sol Ruca is set for six-woman tag team action, teaming with ZARIA and Lola Vice to face Fatal Influence following a backstage segment where ZaRuca and Vice—who defeated Jaida Parker and Kelani Jordan to earn a title shot against Jacy Jayne for the NXT Women's Championship at NXT No Mercy—bumped into Jayne, Jazmyn Nyx, and Fallon Henley and shared some trash talk after Jayne lost the TNA Knockouts World Championship to Ash by Elegance.
There will also be a two-on-two tag team match as The Culling's Izzi Dame and Tatum Paxley will team up against Wren Sinclair and an as-yet-unnamed partner. That is likely to be Kendal Grey, considering their interaction last week where Sinclair stood up for Grey in a backstage moment with Charlie Dempsey belittling her.
Lastly, Myles Borne has demanded a match against Lexis King, but since King blinded Borne by spraying him in the eyes last Tuesday, NXT General Manager Ava has decided to make this an even contest by booking it as a blindfold match.
