After Cody Rhodes' shock AEW departure, we immediately started hearing rumblings that the former TNT Champion might be making his WWE return. It's a twist that's sent fans into a frenzy and shocked the wrestling world; now, WWE appears to be capitalising on that by teasing Rhodes' seemingly impending debut for the sports entertainment giant.
During last night's episode of RAW, two indirect references were made to Cody. First, The Miz teased his WrestleMania tag team partner ahead of his match against Rey and Dominick Mysterio. He initially referred to that person as "Dashing," a moniker Cody went by during his first WWE run. Ultimately, it was revealed that Logan Paul, not Rhodes, will join the A-Lister.
Elsewhere in the show, WWE Hall of Famer Edge made his return to issue an open challenge for the Show of Shows. However, WWE's Twitter account mentioned "smoke and mirrors," the name of Rhodes' WWE theme song. Edge vs. Rhodes would be one heck of a match, but it appears the stage is actually being set for the veteran to battle AJ Styles.
RAW opened with Paul Heyman telling WWE Champion Brock Lesnar that he'll have to face Bobby Lashley or a mystery opponent at next Saturday's non-televised event in Madison Square Garden. That would certainly be one way to debut the returning Cody Rhodes, don't you think?
