SummerSlam kicked off with a high-flying bout which saw YouTuber Logan Paul square off with Ricochet. The former once again impressed with his in-ring abilities but cheated to pick up his first win in a year by hitting the WWE Superstar with a pair of brass knuckles.
Next up was the long-awaited match between Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar. As expected, The Beast brutalised the American Nightmare and was determined to get Rhodes counted out. However, it was ultimately a trio of Cross Rhodes which put Lesnar down for the 1-2-3. After the match, Lesnar embraced his opponent in a moment we've since learned was not scripted.
The SummerSlam Battle Royal saw LA Knight pick up the win much to the delight of fans, while Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler's MMA Rules match ended when the Baddest Woman on the Planet was choked out with the Kirifuda Clutch.
Drew McIntyre vs. GUNTHER for the Intercontinental Championship was every bit as hard-hitting as you'd expect, but the Austrian ultimately managed to score the win.
The World Heavyweight Championship match proved to be a great back-and-forth contest, with Finn Balor determined to defeat Seth Rollins without The Judgement Day's help. When Damian Priest threw his Money in the Bank briefcase into the ring, Balor went to remove it, only to be Curb Stomped for his troubles. Clearly, the tension within that faction will continue to rise.
Bianca Belair rolled up Asuka to defeat her and Charlotte Flair for the Women's Championship, only for Iyo Sky to cash in her Money in the Bank briefcase to steal the title!
Finally, we had the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship Tribal Combat match, with cousins Roman Reigns and Jey Uso finally going to war. Jey had the match won, but was pulled out of the ring...by his brother, Jimmy! Roman looked every bit as shocked but used that opportunity to steal the win.
It was one heck of a night and another great PLE for WWE that should set up lots of thrilling new storylines - particularly within The Bloodline - as we head into the Fall.
