WWE Superstar Kevin Owens Is Legitimately Injured - Will He Have To Vacate The Tag Team Titles?

Unfortunately, it appears Kevin Owens is dealing with a legitimate injury, but will this result in him and Sami Zayn being forced to vacate the Undisputed Tag Team Championships? Read on for details...

During last night's episode of RAW, Kevin Owens was attacked backstage by The Judgement Day (off camera) and reportedly sustained broken ribs. That left Sami Zayn forced to fend for himself while facing Dominik Mysterio, but what's really going on with the former Universal Champion?

Well, multiple outlets are reporting that Owens is legitimately injured and may have broken ribs. It's unclear when he sustained those, though it could have been during last Monday's main event.

Real broke ribs can take up to six weeks to fully heal, and it sounds like Owens is being written off television for the time being.

Dave Meltzer has since chimed in, and while he downplayed how badly KO is injured, it certainly doesn't sound like things are good for this half of WWE's Undisputed Tag Team Champions.

"It’s a fractured rib. So the story, he's actually been working on it for a while, and it was just one of those things where they were waiting for a time to finish up with everything," he explains. "He's gonna get rest. I don't know how long, and I don't know what the status of the Tag Team Titles [is]."

"I'm sure that that will probably all be addressed in the next couple of days, but it was legit. He's been working on a legit injury. So that's the basic gist of the story there."

Owens being sidelined for as long as six weeks is good cause to vacate the titles, though we can't discount the possibility that Zayn might get a new partner who can fill in for the injured Superstar. As things stand, we're not sure who exactly that could be, especially with SummerSlam fast approaching.

Stay tuned for updates as we have them.
