In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer notes that the situation with Roman Reigns is unknown after The Big Dog decided not to compete at WrestleMania. As you may have heard, he refused to face Goldberg at the Show of Shows due to COVID-19 concerns. Reigns is immunocompromised and at high risk after battling cancer.
On this week's SmackDown, Bray Wyatt was revealed as new Universal Champion Braun Strowman's first challenger, and Meltzer says he's been told that it's down to Reigns when he returns to WWE.
Interestingly, during a recent interview, WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg also questioned WWE's decision to have Reigns there. "I don’t know why it was even considered in the beginning besides he’d invested the time and WWE invested the money in the match," he said. "Literally, until the 23rd hour, it was still a possibility that he and I were going to wrestle."
The story going around is that Reigns pulled out of the show after learning that The Miz had shown up to WrestleMania with possible symptoms of the Coronavirus. Chances are we won't see The Big Dog in WWE for the rest of 2020 depending how much longer this all lasts.
