Liv Morgan missed last week's SmackDown due to injury, and while the hope had been that she'd make a speedy recovery, it appears the former Women's Champion will be on the sidelines for longer than expected.
During last night's show, WWE confirmed that Morgan and her partner Raquel Rodriguez have been forced to vacate the Women's Tag Team Championships because of the severity of Liv's injury. Now, new champions are set to be crowned as soon as the May 29 edition of RAW.
In that match, Damage CTRL's Bayley and Iyo Sky, Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville, Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler, and Rodriguez and a partner of her choosing will all compete for the titles in Fatal Four-Way Match.
This is really unfortunate for Morgan and Rodriguez, though it was an odd pairing from the start and felt like a way of giving both talented singles Superstars something to do.
Not helping matters, of course, is the fact these titles have never been booked well (hence why this match isn't taking place on a grander stage like Night of Champions).
Dakota Kai was thought to be injured in the same match as Morgan, so that's why Bayley is teaming up with Sky. Interestingly, the latter didn't look too happy about that, so there's clearly some dissension within that faction.
Based on recent reports, however, we can surmise that the most likely winners of this bout will be Rousey and Baszler. WWE has had plans for that duo for some time, though with recent rumours about the Baddest Woman on the Planet wanting to take some time off, it's hard to say for sure.
