While The Undertaker's status at WrestleMania is something of a mystery, so too is John Cena's. While the original plan was for him to square off with NXT callup Lars Sullivan, plans changed once his anxiety issues resulted in him heading home.

Since then, we've heard conflicting reports about what he'll be doing at the Showcase of the Immortals and Dave Meltzer has revealed that he was indeed expected to face United States Champion Samoa Joe at one point. However, those plans were dropped and now Rey Mysterio is going to challenge him instead.

The hope among fans is that Cena could face off with Kurt Angle is his "farewell" match but Meltzer adds that the real plan is for the Olympic Gold Medallist to face Baron Corbin and that the announcement wasn't a swerve.

With any luck, the backlash aimed at the reveal will lead to Cena somehow replacing the former RAW General Manager.
