As noted, Zelina Vega (a.k.a. Thea Trinidad) made her return to WWE last night after Sonya Deville announced that she would compete in the ladder match at Money in the Bank. Like Carmella, she didn't have to win a qualifying match, and it seems like this could be the company's way of getting fans to really get behind, and root for, Liv Morgan.
After all, she beat Carmella last week and even scored an upset win over Vega on SmackDown in her return match. Despite that, she's still not been added to the bout, and we could be looking at an upswell in support for Morgan similar to what happened with Daniel Bryan and Becky Lynch.
We'll see, but despite that loss, Vega is clearly confident in where things go for her from here.
Taking to Twitter shortly after the show went off the air, she said: "What to take from tonight: I’m back. I’m going to be in the MITB ladder match...and I will win. Period. Everything else is irrelevant."
Vega was released last November after issues with WWE over her Twitch and OnlyFans accounts. There have been rumours she might return, but after her husband, Aleister Black, was released, we expected her to join him in AEW.
