Lacey Lane could end up being all elite.
Ring of Honor had their recent set of tapings and Lacey Lane (aka Kayden Carter) mde her debut during those television tapings. Lane was formerly in a tag team with Katana Chance in WWE; she is a former WWE and NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion.
It’s not a surprise that Lane is competing in ROH/AEW. The former WWE star did talk about her future and stated why AEW was the perfect fit for her.
“I know people will probably look down at me for saying this, but I could give a shit because whatever, I want to work. I think AEW is my speed, because you know, those girls can [frick]ing go.” Lane said on Busted Open Radio.
I love the way that they work. They don’t bring the bullshit, they bring the fists. And you know me, I’m a girl that’s down to fight. I love that. So I can see myself there, definitely. And just because like I said, I’ve worked with a lot of people from Mexico there, like a lot of people who mentored me. My mentor’s there. A lot of people who would bring a great support system to me, I feel like, versus where I felt like I didn’t have much [in WWE]. It was like me and Kacy [Catanzaro] fighting the world over there, you know what I’m saying?”
Lane feels that she has so much to offer beyond being a tag team wrestler. She wants to show the world that she’s her own individual.
“I feel like I have so much to offer, and I feel like I wasn’t able to showcase that [in WWE]. I feel like people are used to seeing me in a tag team, and I love that. I will never, ever take anything away from me being in a tag team. But I also want to remind people that I am an individual, that I did have a spark before I got to WWE. I was so much of a spitfire. And that same passion, and that same drive is still there. And I want to show the world that I’m very capable on my own…and that I can provide something that people really haven’t seen before, and bring back my lucha strong style, and stuff that really got away from me in WWE.”
As of this writing, Lane’s ROH appearance seems like a one off at the moment. It’s quite possible that she signed a deal with AEW as Tony Khan doesn’t give everyone the “all elite” graphic.
As for Lane’s ex WWE partner, Kacy Catanzaro, she seems to be done with professional wrestling for the time being. The 35-year-old has returned to American Ninja Warrior, though her and Lane will do a meet and greet for WrestleCade in November so she isn’t completely shut out of the business.
