Preview & Predictions for AEW Dynamite:
On tap for tonight's episode, we've got three title bouts, but I'll be honest in saying I don't think there's much of a chance any of them change hands. That's perfectly okay, but it does mean I and I'm sure many others are walking into this just expecting Mark Briscoe to beat El Clon, Kris Statlander to retain over Thekla, and FTR to beat Davis and Doyle, without much fanfare or anything all that interesting going down.
MJF will be in attendance, surely for a promo segment. Is it going to be following Swerve Strickland against Andrade El Idolo, since MJF and Andrade have had some exchanges on X? If so, I think Strickland gets the win, maybe even as a result of MJF getting involved, or there's a chance this ends up in a draw of some kind to set up a future three-way.
I would be very shocked if Ace Austin defeated Jon Moxley, but it is just an eliminator match and not for the title, so it's possible he scores an upset to earn a future shot at the belt where he then loses.
Kenny Omega will obviously beat Rocky Romero, as he's the resident enhancement talent of The Don Callis Family and nowhere near at the level where he needs protection, least of all from someone as high up as Omega.
Here are your results for AEW Dynamite - January 28, 2026:
- Kenny Omega defeated Rocky Romero by pinfall. After the match, Tony Schiavone said that Omega will face "Hangman" Adam Page, Swerve Strickland, and Andrade El Idolo in a four-way at Grand Slam Australia to determine the new No. 1 contender for the AEW World Championship. Page came out to say that he would be the next champion, not Omega. Strickland followed suit to do the same. Don Callis then did the same to represent Andrade. Omega chased after Callis to the back.
- AEW Continental Championship Eliminator Match: Jon Moxley (c) defeated Ace Austin by pinfall. Konosuke Takeshita came out to taunt that he would be coming for Moxley's title. Mark Davis and Jake Doyle then beat down Moxley.
- TNT Championship Match: Mark Briscoe (c) retained over El Clon. After the match, Briscoe said an asterisk to his open challenge is that The Don Callis Family can't take part in it, as he's tired of them, but he invites someone to step up. Surprisingly, Tommaso Ciampa then came out!
- Kazuchika Okada apologized to Kyle Fletcher for how the Continental Classic went down, saying he wanted to face him in the finals and he didn't intend to hurt Fletcher with the screwdriver situation. Fletcher accepted the apology.
- Promo: MJF and Brody King traded verbal barbs, setting up that King gets an eliminator match next week, wherein if he wins, he will get a title shot for Grand Slam Australia.
- The Young Bucks are cordially inviting the tag team division to a superkick party, returning to Dynamite next week and reinvigorated to be back to their old ways.
- AEW Women's World Championship Match: Kris Statlander (c) defeated Thekla by pinfall. After the match, Willow Nightingale and Harley Cameron celebrated with Statlander. Then, Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford came out to stare them down while on the ramp.
- Don Callis thinks Konosuke Takeshita should forgive Kazuchika Okada just like Kyle Fletcher did. Takeshita was upset with Fletcher for doing that.
- The Demand attacked Jack Perry backstage.
- AEW World Tag Team Championship Match: FTR (c) (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) defeated The Don Callis Family's Mark Davis and Jake Doyle by pinfall with some help from Jon Moxley's interference to get back at Davis and Doyle from earlier.
- Andrade El Idolo defeated Swerve Strickland by pinfall with a low blow the referee didn't see.
